IMPLEMENTATION MODEL

The first decision that the Dual Immersion (DI) Leadership Team should make is to determine how the DI program will be implemented, either as a whole school or a strand within a school program. (Refer to Module 2: Program and Implementation Models, “Implementation Models”)

  • In a whole school program, all classrooms in the school are implementing the DI program model based on the grade level being taught.
    • All students in the school are enrolled in the DI program.
    • All teachers in the school teach in the dual immersion program.
    • The teachers that teach in the target language have their state credential/authorization to teach in the target language.
  • In the strand within a school program, a dedicated number of classrooms at each grade level are implementing the DI program model based on the grade level being taught.
    • All the students in these classrooms are enrolled in the DI program.
    • The teachers that teach in the target language have their state credential/authorization to teach in the target language.
